Recording Job Time and Quantity Completed

Recording Job Time and Quantity Completed

Overview

The Data Collection system allows employees to record both the time spent on a job and the quantity completed during each working session. This provides an accurate record of labour time, production output, and scrap quantities, making it easier to monitor productivity and analyse job performance.

Each time a Job Time session is started and stopped, RedAnt creates a separate Job Time record containing:

  • Employee details
  • Job number
  • Operation and cycle
  • Start and finish times
  • Quantity completed
  • Scrap quantity (if applicable)

Starting Job Time

  1. Clock into the Data Collection system.
  2. Select Start Job Time.
  3. Enter or select the relevant Job Number.
  4. Select the appropriate Operation.
  5. Select the required Cycle.
  6. Confirm to start the Job Time session.

The employee can then continue working on the job as normal.

Stopping Job Time and Recording Output

When a period of work has been completed:

  1. Open the Enquiry screen within the Data Collection system.
  2. Select the active Job Time record.
  3. Choose Stop Time.
  4. Enter:
    • Quantity Completed
    • Scrap Quantity (if applicable)
  5. Save the record.

The quantities entered are recorded against that specific Job Time session.

Recording Production Across Multiple Sessions

The Data Collection system can automatically split Job Time records across breaks and shift changes.

Example

An employee:

  • Clocks in at 8:00am
  • Starts Job Time for Job 1234
  • Selects the appropriate operation and cycle
  • Works until 12:00pm

At lunchtime, the employee clocks out.

If a Job Time session is still active, the Data Collection system will prompt the employee to enter:

  • Quantity completed during the morning session
  • Any scrap quantity generated

When the employee returns from lunch and clocks back in, the Data Collection system will ask whether they wish to continue working on the same job.

The employee resumes work and continues until the end of the day.

When they clock out again, the Data Collection system will once more prompt for the quantity completed during that afternoon session.

Resulting Records

Using the example above, RedAnt would create:

SessionTime PeriodQuantity Recorded
Session 18:00am - 12:00pmMorning production
Session 21:00pm - 5:00pmAfternoon production

This allows production to be tracked accurately throughout the day while maintaining a complete labour history.
