A finished item needs a Stock ID. If the job has no Stock ID, arrange for the correct stock record to be created and linked before booking the finished quantity.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Qty available to book to Stock | The quantity RedAnt currently allows you to book from this job. Check it against the good production quantity and previous bookings. |
| Current Stock Balance | The current balance for the Stock ID. This can include items from other production batches; it is not the quantity to book from this job. |
| Qty to book to Stock | The finished quantity you are booking in this transaction. |
| Stock Location | Where the finished items are being held. |
| Parent Requirement | The quantity of this Stock ID required by the linked parent job. |
| Allocated | The quantity already issued or allocated to that parent's requirement. |
| Qty to Allocate to Parent | The quantity to issue to the parent as part of this booking. Check the suggested value before confirming. |
| Extra Qty to book to Stock | Additional production above the job quantity. This is separate from the normal stock-booking quantity and increases the job quantity. |
| Mark Job Complete | Closes the sub-component job when no further production or stock booking is required. |
Marking a job complete and booking stock are separate actions. Ticking Mark Job Complete alone does not book the finished items into stock or allocate them to the parent.
Use this route when the completed items are required immediately for a linked parent job.
RedAnt books the finished quantity into stock and issues the specified quantity to the parent. The quantity issued to the parent is therefore no longer free stock for another job.
Do not allocate the same quantity again through Material Allocation. Check the parent allocation before making any further issue.
Assume the sub-component job is for 12 items, all 12 are finished and available to book, and the parent requires 10 with nothing allocated yet.
| Field | Entry |
|---|---|
| Qty to book to Stock | 12 |
| Qty to Allocate to Parent | 10 |
| Extra Qty to book to Stock | 0 |
| Stock Location | The actual storage location |
| Mark Job Complete | Tick when all work and quantity checks are finished |
Result: 12 items are booked into stock, 10 are issued to the parent, and 2 remain in stock, assuming there are no other allocations. The 2 retained items are not “extras” because they were already included in the sub-component job quantity of 12.
Use this route when the finished items will be held in stores, used by another job, or allocated to the parent later.
The items are now recorded in stock. They still need to be allocated to the parent before its component requirement is satisfied.
If the required quantity comes from more than one receipt, allocate each GRN separately. Follow your normal inspection, certificate and traceability requirements when selecting stock.
Do not create another Goods In receipt for the same finished items. If they were booked through Complete Job, use that receipt when allocating them to the parent.
If only some items are ready, book only the completed good quantity and allocate only what is available. Leave Mark Job Complete unticked while more production remains.
For example, if the parent requires 10 items and only 6 are ready, book 6 and allocate 6. The parent then has 4 outstanding. When the remaining 4 are finished, book and allocate those 4 separately. Check the remaining balance at each booking.
To retain part of a normal booking in stock, allocate less than the booked quantity to the parent. Use Extra Qty to book to Stock only for production above the sub-component job quantity; this also increases that job quantity.
If recording extras and allocating to a parent in the same session, check the resulting receipt quantities and parent allocation carefully before making any further booking.
Where the requirement will be met from existing finished stock, allocate the existing receipt through Requirements / Allocations. Do not book the same items as new production.
Work-in-progress allocations are different from finished-stock bookings. If a job already has stock or WIP allocations, review them before completing it so the same quantity is not counted twice.
Completing a sub-component job does not complete the parent job. When the parent assembly itself is finished, book its finished quantity and complete its job separately.
