Completing Job Orders and Works Orders

Completing Job Orders and Works Orders

Purpose

Complete finished production work accurately, update the job status, and ensure time, quantity, and stock records remain correct.

Navigation: Main Menu > Job Orders > Complete

Before Closing an Order

Before completing any Job Order or Works Order, confirm the following:

  • Finished quantity is correct.
  • Scrap quantity has been recorded.
  • All outstanding time bookings have been completed.
  • Allocated materials have been reviewed.

If the quantity produced is lower than planned, return any unused allocated material to stock before completion to maintain accurate stock balances.

Closing an Order from Data Collection

Book Off the Final Operation

Enter the finished quantity and any scrap quantity, then complete the operator's booking in Data Collection.

Respond to the Completion Prompt

When RedAnt asks whether the job is complete, select Yes only if no further production work is required.

Deal with Overproduction

If more parts were produced than required, follow the prompt to place the agreed surplus quantity into stock.

Confirm Completion

Complete the booking and verify that the Job Order status changes to Complete.

Closing an Order Manually from Job Orders Screen

Open the Order

Locate and select the relevant Job Order. Confirm both the Job Order number and Works Order number before proceeding.

Review the Job

Use the Information / Job Inquiry view to review:

  • Booked time
  • Quantities completed
  • Deliveries
  • Delivered balance

Check Material Allocated to confirm what has been issued to the job.

Select Complete

Choose Complete from the actions at the top of the Job Order screen.

Choose the Completion Level

Select one of the following options:

  • Job - Completes only the selected Job Order.
  • Works Order - Completes all Job Orders linked to the Works Order. Use this only when every associated Job Order is ready to be closed.
Enter Completion Quantities

Provide the required completion information, including:

  • Quantity made
  • Quantity to place into stock
  • Scrap quantity (if applicable)

Return unused material according to your company's stock procedures.

Mark the Job Complete

Select Mark Job Complete at the bottom of the completion window and save or confirm the transaction.

Verification Checks

After completion, confirm that:

  • The Job Order status displays Complete.
  • The status is no longer Entered, Active, Printed, or Live.
  • No operators or operations remain booked onto the job.
  • Completed quantity, scrap quantity, and stock quantity match the physical outcome.
  • The work no longer appears in overdue-job reports.
  • The job no longer consumes capacity in the finite schedule after the schedule has been refreshed.
  • If a Works Order was completed, all linked Job Orders were genuinely ready to close.

Tips

Job statuses normally progress automatically as work is activated, printed, started, and booked off. Manual completion should primarily be used for controlled corrections or for jobs that have been physically completed but remain open in the system.

Important

Do not mark a Job Order as Complete simply to remove it from reports. Always reconcile quantities, time bookings, and materials before closing the order.

Completing a Job Order does not replace any separate delivery, certification, quality control, or invoicing processes required by your business procedures.

Numbering Note

Some RedAnt installations use the same number for both the Job Order and Works Order. Other installations allow multiple Job Orders to be grouped under a single Works Order.

The completion options available will depend on your company's RedAnt configuration.
